What is VOLTGUARD?

Voltguard has been designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from being damaged beyond economical repair due to unexpected failure of the Rec./Reg.,
hence pushing the recommended safe voltage up towards to a higher level than the  limit of the manufactures stated data of your Radio, GPS etc.. We all should be aware that single phase alternators
produce in access of 100 volts RMS and if the rectifier/regulator should fail due to component failure the result can be very costly.
Those of you who already purchased my product "POWER MATE" know what I mean. Nothing is fail proof unless the appropriate measures are being implemented.
In order to give pilots true piece of mind to have parts of their electrical system operated safely

and protected from over voltage I've come up with a reliable and simple solution.  It's called VOLTGUARD.

How does VOLTGUARD work to protect your valuable equipment?

An electronic circuit will constantly monitor the input voltage level to make sure that the output will stay within the max. allowable DC voltage (most 12 V DC rated equipment is specified for max. 16V DC  working voltage!)  level that can be tolerated by your communication equipment. As soon as the input voltage reaches a dangerous level, it will  disconnect the output from the input  within. 1 ms therefore protecting all electrical equipment connected to VOLTGUARD. It automatically will go into reset mode if the voltage drops back to an acceptable level hence reconnecting all VOLTGUARD- protected equipment.
This feature enables the pilot to continue his flight and operate his Radio (without Rec./Reg.) if the circuit breaker for the charging circuit can be switched off.

What are the limitations of VOLTGUARD?

The unit is designed to deliver a continuous current of up to 5 Amp. at 14 volts and is protected by a manually re-settable circuit breaker if overload should occur. The current rating should be sufficient to run even the most power- hungry communication equipment.
VOLTGUARD is also reverse polarity protected (in-and output) if accidentally hooked up back to front.
Because VOLTGUARD is kept small and light it can be fitted easily near the instrument panel, doesn't need any airflow for cooling and has a four terminal screw-on  connector that is protected by a plastic cover for additional safety.

At a price  of under $100.00 incl. postage (within Australia) , VOLTGUARD is a cheap insurance to have your expensive communication gear protected and can therefore save lots of money and unnecessary trouble.
